About Us

What I do is sometimes referred to as - the legal profession.

I think of it as - being of service.

Our Law Office in Old Town Yuma, Arizona...

lies on the corner of West 4th Street and 1st Avenue in Century Heights which is part of the Historic District in Old Town Yuma.  The Building is an adobe structure built in 1909 next door to the "Mexican Consulate."

This property has a feeling of calmness & beauty - beginning with the large Ficus tree in the front yard.  It also is convenient to the Yuma County Courthouse 2 blocks away.

When there are legal issues hanging over your head - stress mounts.  We are here to help you resolve those legal issues so you can create your own calm.

Who We Are...

Alina - greets our clients with shy  elegance.  A Eurasier dog who  joined the practice in August 2001.

Boo - was to be new to our home/office on March 1, 2009.  He is Alina's half brother who ended up as a Eurasier Rescue Dog.  The Eurasier owners are a tight group who always find a place for a Eurasier!  They found a family for him in Colorado where he will be going.  We will miss him!

Lynn Tilson - graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a master's in mathematics.  She has taught at Penn State University & is a mathematics texbook author.  She joined James's legal practice in 2000 as a legal assistant.

James Neal Tilson - graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law, in Lexington, Kentucky.  He practiced as a lawyer for a short time in Lexington until moving to Yuma, Arizona.  Then he began his solo law practice in October of 1999.

James  says - What attracted me to the legal profession?  Because I like lawyer jokes?  Not!  I grew up on a tobacco farm in Southwestern Virginia, worked as a carpenter, mail sorter, grass cutter and like most people decided what I wanted to do by eliminating what I didn't want to do.

Law school seemed like a good idea but, honestly, I wasn't sure where it would take me.  A fortunate move was to Yuma, Arizona, a place that encourages solo legal practitioners.

PS:  Alina's favorite case: when I got 3 Yuma, Arizona pit bulls out of jail!  No they didn't get picked up at a U.S. Border Patrol Checkpoint in AZ!  Good dogs!!!

PPS:  Lynn's favorite cases: the Arizona drug busts at the U.S. Border Patrol Checkpoints!
